RSA
Laboratories
The
RSA Laboratories have a two-fold function: to work in conjunction
with manufacturing, performing preliminary suitability and pre
scale-up studies, and to perform as a stand-alone unit engaging
in process development and custom syntheses from gram to kilo
quantities. All laboratory activities are conducted under GLP
and cGMP guidelines.
The
diversity of synthetic steps conducted in our laboratories precludes
a complete listing of reactions. A Broad range of R&D operations includes
pressure reactions to 2000 psi, hydrogenations,
fractional distillations, Birch reductions, Diels-Alder
cyclizations, Wittig
reactions, Grignard reactions, esterifications,
halogenations, hydride reductions, diazotization, N & O alkylation,
acylations and polymerizations. A comprehensive
equipment inventory includes:
Up
to 72 liters for synthesis and fractional distillation
- 1500
psi SS autoclave
- 2
liter, 2000 psi hastelloy
reactor with magnetic drive
- 2
liter, 2000 psi SS reactor with magnetic
drive
- Several
distillation heads equipped with automatic reflux splitters
- Several
vacuum systems beginning at less than 100 microns
Analytical
methods development and validation are ongoing programs in our
QC and R&D laboratories. A
broad spectrum of available instrumentation facilitates these
programs and includes:
- FTIR
Spectrophotometer
- UV/Vis Spectrophotometer
- Several
Capillary Gas Chromatographs with Split/Splitless
Injectors and FIDs
- High
Performance Liquid Chromatograph
- Computer
systems for data collection, retrieval and reports
